Statement from Blue Goose Pure Foods Regarding Allegations Related to Cericola Farms
TORONTO, (October 25, 2016)
In the evening of October 24th, we were informed that two senior officials at one of our meat processors, Cericola Farms, are facing a number of charges under the Food and Drug Act and Consumer Labeling Act after an investigation by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) relating to the mislabeling of organic meat.
We are surprised and very disappointed by these allegations, and are currently liaising with Cericola Farms and the CFIA to verify, and clarify the basis of these charges.
The integrity of our products is extremely important to us. In addition to independent audits by various third parties including the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) and CSI (Centre for Systems Integration), Blue Goose has always monitored Cericola Farms compliance relating to organic certification. Currently Cericola Farms has complied with all organic audits relating to Blue Goose Organic products.
Nonetheless we will be tracking the situation and will take decisive action if these allegations prove to be true.
We value the trust of our customers and would like to reassure them of our commitment to providing healthy natural and organic food from well-raised animals.
