If you look after your land and animals, they will look after you.
This simple belief was the inspiration that drove us to purchase our first acre and animal back in 1992 in Cariboo, BC. A belief that if you choose patience over short cuts, and choose to do what’s right over what’s easy, the end result is not only healthier animals, but a cleaner, higher quality product for you and your family.

Doing things differently: Vertical Integration
When we looked at the whole process from ranch to grocery store, we decided to do something a bit different. We knew we would only be happy if the standards we applied to the raising of our cattle were also applied to every other step in the process.
To accomplish this, we decided to engage in what is called "Vertical Integration", a practice of owning every step in the process. For Blue Goose, this meant not only controlling the raising and feed of the cattle, but also building our own Abattoir (where the cattle are humanely processed) packing our own beef, and shipping our own product to retail. Today people call this “farm to plate” but for us, we just called it "doing the right thing". In our view, it was the only way we could guarantee a Blue Goose quality product to our consumers.

From a belief, to a way of living: Take Care. Eat Well.
Since our founding, we’ve gone from raising pasture fed cattle in BC, to growing antibiotic and animal by-product free organic chicken and fish in Ontario. We’ve expanded from one family owned cattle ranch in the remote regions of BC, to chicken and fish farms stretching across Ontario. While we’ve grown as a company, our rooted beliefs and values remains the same.
